Clinically proven
to reduce oxidative stress.

ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION
Oxidative Stress and Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED), can be a total inability to achieve erection, an inconsistent ability to do so, or a tendency to sustain only brief erections. In older men, ED usually has a physical cause, such as disease, injury, or side effects of drugs. Any disorder that causes injury to the nerves or impairs blood flow in the penis has the potential to cause ED. The underlying pathophysiology of ED is the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), in particular, superoxide and hydrogen peroxide.  Oxidative stress to cavernous tissue may be a contributory factor in erectile dysfunction in diabetics. Penile erection is dependent upon vascular smooth muscle relaxation in erectile tissue and penile arteries, the principal mediator of relaxation being nitric oxide (NO). Increased inactivation of NO by superoxide results in impaired penile NO transmission and smooth muscle relaxation.

About Erectile Dysfunction
  • 1 in 10 men worldwide have ED
  • 30 million men in the U.S. have erectile dysfunction
  • 50% of men with diabetes have erectile dysfunction
  • The likelihood of ED increases with age: 30% at age 40, 65% over the age of 65
  • Smokers have a higher likelihood of ED. Men who smoke more than 1 pack a day have a 50% higher chance of impotency than nonsmokers the same age.
Risk Factors
  • Vascual Disease: diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking
  • Surgery: prostate removal for prostate cancer, pelvic surgery for colon cancer
  • Nerve damage: spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke
  • Low testosterone levels
  • Depression, stress, anxiety
  • Medication/drugs: blood pressure medication, alcohol, sedatives, narcotics
Risk Reducers
  1. Reduce the risk of head injury by always wearing a seat belt while riding in a car and by wearing a helmet while bicycling, skiing, riding a motorcycle, or engaging in other activities with a high risk of head injury.
  2. Reduce your risk of stroke and other vascular diseases by limiting your intake of alcohol, following a healthy diet, managing your weight, exercising regularly, and not smoking cigarettes.

About Protandim®
Protandim is a powerful, patented daily supplement that dramatically boosts your body's own natural defenses against free radical damage, a leading cause of oxidative stress.

At this time, there is no evidence that Protandim can treat, cure, or prevent erectile dysfunction, but we do know its positive impact on oxidative stress.  Because of the known link between erectile dysfunction and oxidative stress, you may want to begin by lowering your oxidative stress, which Protandim is proven to do.
