Reduce Stress To Reduce Aging

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Anti-aging is a relatively new approach to looking young and feeling great. It is holistic in that it includes information about which vitamins help the body to stay fit, and which products and creams are effective in giving a youthful glow. Now, even some hormones are being introduced in the discussion to keep people young on a molecular level. Outside of all of the market plots and product lines, there are some real ways to actually stay looking young. One great way to do it is to reduce the stress in your life.

Some products do work. Some creams have been proven effective, and some alternative medicine approaches have proven useful. Certain vitamins and minerals can help you to look younger by focusing on characteristics of aging related health changes. Yet, a lot of aging affects can be reduced by changing lifestyles in conjunction with using good products.

Stress is something we all deal with at any age. There are good ways of dealing with stress in your life and there are bad ways. People who seem always full of stress and take negative situations to a level that harms them usually always look older. People who are unhappy in their jobs and cannot manage their lives in a way that helps them remain happy look older than those who are happy and are organized.

Stress leads to a lot of health problems that are related to aging. Risks of strokes and onset of heart disease are often products of the older crowd, and are directly related to stress. Stress can lead to anxiety problems, depression or even negative habits like alcoholism and drug use, all of which can change the physical appearance of a person.

Because of these reasons, it is very important to manage stress in your life in order to remain youthful. Pick up a hobby to relax, work out, take vacations if you can—even if just for a weekend. Take some ‘me’ time. You will definitely notice a difference in how you look and feel.

How Stress Affects Your Life… And Leads to Aging

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

In order to stay healthy and fight the aging process, it is important to manage stress. This may seem simple enough, however, many struggle to keep things together. And this stress mounts and mounts until it negatively affects your health. In order to get happy, or remain in a state of contentment, you need to decide what is posing the most stress.

Work, whether it be schoolwork or a career, can be the primary source of stress in people’s lives. This can come from being unhappy at a job or being spread too thin with an intense workload. This leads to sacrifices made in personal lives. To fix this, it is best to assess if you have any options to move up in your career or maybe make a change if possible. A little stress is needed to keep motivation and to make progress, but too much is unhealthy. If you cannot make any big changes in your career, maybe take a day to organize your priorities at work or change your routine.

Other stressors can include family issues and emotional problems. Everyone goes through ups and downs with their families because of communication problems and differences in opinions. It is important to keep communication lines open and make family members aware of your needs to remain sane. Between family and work, emotional issues can form because everything building up over time can lead to a meltdown. Being in tune with your emotions is key to remaining healthy. Once other factors like work and school become emotional issues, stress can continue.

In order to reduce these stress indicators, it is important to organize all aspects of your life so that they do not lead to explosions. And remember, to reduce stress it is important to take time for yourself every day. Watch a favorite show, exercise, read a book. These things when done alone and with friends can greatly affect your health in a positive way.

How to Get a Good Night’s Sleep…And Why It is Important

Monday, December 8th, 2008

A lot of Americans have sleep issues, and because a good night’s sleep helps fight the aging process, sleep is important. Sleep issues can mean anything from having trouble falling asleep to waking up multiple times a night to having a very hard time waking up in the morning. Because so many people have issues with this, sleep aid medication comprises a remarkably high percentage of prescriptions.

Why the trouble sleeping? Everything from stress to diet can affect one’s sleep cycle. Stress seems to be a leading factor in why many cannot sleep because it keeps them up at night. There is nothing worse when you are trying to sleep than that constant, nagging voice telling you all of the things you need to get done the next day.

There are a few things someone with a sleep problem can try before turning to medication. First, try to figure out what is affecting your sleep. Is it because your sleep patterns are totally off? Does your diet need work? Are you ingesting stimulants after early afternoon? These, along with many other questions, are what you should be asking yourself. And, in addition to these, try to figure out if stress is impacting your life in this way. Many of us are stressed yet refuse to acknowledge its negative effects. Stress at work can be creating sleep problems, as well as mental and emotional stressors. It is important to find out what these are and fix them before they continue to pose a threat. If stress seems to be an issue, get organized. Find ways to minimize tension in your life. Take time for yourself, a day off, etc.

If stress doesn’t seem to be a problem and you cannot figure out what it is, try experimenting. Try to get to bed early for a week, if you can, or take a bath every night before bed and see if that helps. Drink herbal teas and read a book, if you haven’t tried that. Maybe even exercise more. Any of these may do the trick. If you are still having problems after trying out all options, see a doctor who can help you determine the issue and treat is accordingly.
